Chris Bogdanoff, Head Brewer

Heroes Restaurant and Brewery

Chris Bogdanoff is a pub brewer and safety buff from southern California. He is the head brewer for Heroes Restaurant and Brewery in historic downtown Riverside, California. In addition to his formal role as brewer, he is the defacto safety professional for the brewpub. Chris began working with the BA Safety Subcommittee in 2016 and currently chairs the subcommittee. He volunteers for the BA because he has personally seen and experienced many unsafe work practices in small breweries and he wants to work to fix that. He hopes to educate brewers and promote safety by sharing his experiences, close-calls, and lessons learned. It does not matter how big or small your brewery is, we can all work to improve safety. Chris got his brewing diploma from the American Brewers Guild in 2015 and got certified by MicroMatic as a draft technician in 2010. He started his brewing career in 2007, working for a couple of packaging breweries and doing lots of home-brewing.

Andy Clearwaters, Safety Manager

Bell's Brewery, Inc.

Andy Clearwaters is the Safety Manager at Bell’s Brewery. He comes to brewing from the food industry, where he has held multiple roles in health and safety, environmental, and sustainability. His most recent roles were at industrial bakeries and ready-to-eat cereal plants, where he used systems and processes to create and improve health and safety programs and culture. In addition to his passion for safety, he also has an eagerness for sustainability that is shown in his educational background with a B.S. in Environmental Economics and Policy from Michigan State University.

Tony McCrimmon, OHST Certified Safety and Health Specialist

Brewery Safety Consulting

Russell "Tony" McCrimmon is an OHST Certified Safety and Health Specialist, and the Safety Manager for three Xcel Energy power plants in Northeastern Colorado. He has worked in many industry and production roles, including as a technical specialist for process automation, production and safety equipment, as well as in installing, troubleshooting, repairing and user training for machine guarding and equipment before becoming a safety professional.

As an OSHA trainer, Tony has managed lock out programs for many tasks and has gained experience to help identify various lock out hazards. He is a member of the Brewers Association Safety Subcommittee, a GABF and WBC Team member for 25 years, a BJCP Judge, homebrewer, and has visited 100's of breweries throughout the 50 states and Washington, D.C.

Matt Stinchfield, Safety Ambassador

Brewers Association

Matt Stinchfield has been actively creating safer workplaces for over three decades. He has focused on brewery safety for the last 20 years as a safety and loss control consultant to mid-sized and regional craft breweries and distilleries. At the Brewers Association he is a founding member of the Safety Subcommittee which began in 2013, and has held the role of Safety Ambassador since 2015. Matt founded his own brewery, Ploughshare Brewing Company, in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2014.
